it's not because they're rare...

“…now you have to realize that PhDs are rare species in the academic world,” says NORSU President Henry A. Sojor. This came out after Sojor said that he will be hiring PH.Ds this year but as of now, nobody applied yet.

In all honesty, I think its not because PhDs are rare that they are not applying in NORSU. Well, yes. PhDs are indeed rare but there is another reason why very few competent teachers apply in the university. And that is because, NORSU does not really know how to take care of their instructors.

What good is a PhD when he/she doesn't know how to share his knowledge to his students? What good are those who have studied abroad when all they do is brag in class? What good is a teacher who has achieved all these honors when he doesn't even want to share it to his students?

I know a lot of teachers in NORSU who are not PhDs but are a lot better than those who are and even more better than those who are so proud to have studied abroad. NORSU already has instructors who are competent but of course we need more. It is, of course, a great advanatge if the admin could hire these PhDs who would really teach students and not just brag about what they had achieved.

What the problem in this university is that, they don't know how to value their instructors. Salaries are very small, often late and they also get very poor support. So who would want to apply in here?

I wish NORSU would learn to acknowledge those teachers who are excellently performing their jobs even though their not PhDs nor foreign-schooled.
